Once upon a time, a kind and wise king named King Alfred lived. He ruled his kingdom with fairness and justice, and the people of the empire were pleased.

One day, a strange illness struck the kingdom. The king was the first to fall ill, and it seemed he would not recover.

The people of the kingdom were heartbroken. They had grown to love the king and did not want to lose him. So they prayed and begged the gods to spare the king’s life.

To their surprise, the gods answered their prayers. As a result, King Alfred recovered, and the people rejoiced.

But the gods had not only given the king life but also immortality. So King Alfred could not die.

This news saddened the king. He loved his people and wanted to pass the kingdom onto another ruler. He wanted his people to have a ruler they could trust and love. But the gods had made it so that he could not die.

The people of the kingdom were sad too. They had grown to love the king, but he seemed to be with them forever.

In the end, King Alfred’s prayers were answered. The gods allowed him to pass peacefully, but his legacy would live forever.
