Power-Up with good Food

Know your food label

Choose food and snacks from the five food groups (fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy) to keep your body healthy and strong.

Baby carrots(vegetable), berries(fruit), string cheese(dairy), hard-boiled egg(protein), and pita bread(grains) can be great to snack on. We eat snacks between meal times to stop our stomachs from being hungry. Encourage your kids to choose snacks from the food group to build their own creative snack idea.

Discuss good eating habits as a family and practice reading food labels with your kids to help them understand how they can use nutrition facts to make smart food choices quickly. It will help them become more aware of their food, help them establish good eating habits, and fight childhood obesity.

Easy Exercises for Kids

Easy exercises for kids By Ivrydbook

Kids are fun and have so much energy. They are very active and energetic and can move quickly from one activity to another. Kids get restless if they do not get enough physical activity to burn off their energy. And parenting a kid with lots of energy can be exhausting, even for the teachers at school. So the first rule is if you want kids to roll with you, then whatever you choose to do with their time, activities, games, and all, must be fun. I repeat, it must be fun because kids do not have time for the boring stuff.
Exercise for kids should be fun and active play is a fantastic way to add to your kids’ daily routine fitness. It helps them do better in behavior and academically—there are lots of easy exercises, games, and movements that your kids can enjoy to benefit them. At least one hour of outside play daily can be a great warm-up exercise to get their body and hearts moving, and the activity does not have to be complex.
Connect your kids with nature by taking them to the park, planting trees with them, or starting a garden. Support your kid in sports, clubs, and activities that interest them. Be at their events to show solidarity recognize their accomplishments by giving them something they love to own, do, or a family night to celebrate them.
Kids learn by example, and participating is a great way to motivate your kids and hold their attention. When you choose things they love and participate in their exercises, you set a good example and help yourself stay healthy. Simple activities like running, jumping, hops, indoor games, skipping, crab walk, squat, stretching can help kids expend energies. And also find ways to help them be active indoors.

Something in the name.

Something in the name by Ivrydbook

Little Mike had a friend whose name was Hygienus. His classmates loved his name because they believed it was unique. During the parents-teachers meeting, Mike’s mum asked Hygienus’s dad what inspired him to give his son a beautiful and unique name.
“Why does everyone ask me this exact question?” he said.” As a medical doctor who works in the infectious disease department, I get exposed every day. These exposures can be fatal, risky, and frightening because I go back to my loved ones every day.
It is a nightmare to witness the dangers of neglect that could have been avoided that was brought upon your loved ones because of a careless mistake of not washing your hands after contact with people. For example, I get off work and go straight home without exercising simple due diligence on precautions like washing my hands. I get home, hug my loved ones, and indirectly spread some of these diseases to them. You will never find it in your spirit to forgive yourself.
Actually, my son’s name “Hygenius” is an awareness for me, a reminder that I must always keep my family safe no matter what I do in helping others.”

Food Hygiene

Food hygiene and healthy food choices by Ivrydbook

Healthy food choices and hygiene can help your child grow healthy, prevent food poisoning, and combat diseases. Therefore, it is essential to maintain food hygiene at all times. As a parent, set examples with your grocery list for your kids to follow, wear your gloves and apron to prevent contamination, prepare food, eat food, and maintain a safe meal and eating habit. Teach them the importance of nutritious foods and why they are suitable for them, how to wash their meat, veggies properly, fruits before consuming them, and the benefits of well-cooked food. Please encourage them to try new foods, drinks, and healthy smoothies. And let them prepare meals with you for the family sometimes.

Dental and Oral Hygiene

“Love means not being afraid to lose my first teeth, smiling after losing my first teeth, and making others smile whenever I smile.” ― Ivrydbook.

Dental hygiene is crucial for your kid’s growth, health, and wellness. You must help your kid establish a proper routine of brushing their teeth at least twice daily.
Have your kid brush their teeth before breakfast to eliminate bacteria collected in the mouth overnight. Have your kid rinse their mouth with water after breakfast and lunch to remove a buildup after eating their meal.
Please encourage them to brush their teeth after dinner as part of a daily routine. And a routine visit to the dentist is essential because it will help your kid prevent gingivitis and gum disease.

My little angel, please do not be afraid to wash your hands.

It can be pretty hard to get kids to do a little simple thing like wash their hands with the activity level they have. And even harder for them spending an extra minute on anything that are not interested in doing.

Gini’s little pretty hands touch everything, from her brother’s gaming device, mom’s mobile phone, daddy’s car keys, toilet seat, desks, floor, picking her nose, digging the dirt on the playground, and touching everything within range. Because you come in contact with germs every minute, it is easy for germs to get into your mouth and get you sick. Wash your hands with soap and water to keep germs from spreading, getting into your mouth, and getting you sick.

Bath Hygiene

Bath Hygiene by Ivrydbook

Many bacteria live on the skin’s surface harmlessly but can give rise to infections if they find their way into the body through injuries and open cuts, and with kids, anything can happen during playtime. It is even worst for children who are too young to communicate their injuries themselves. Bath times are essential to keep your kids healthy, prevent the spread of germs on their bodies, and ensure a clean and hygienic environment for your child. Regular showers can be fun, and it’s not a bad idea to be creative about it to make it fun for your little angels. However, kids have a lot of indoor play and outside time, and in the process, they get their hands dirty by touching dirty surfaces, running around, sweating, and lying on the floor. Therefore, you must urge your kids to shower first and last thing at night before bedtime. Wash their underarms, anal areas, genitals, hair, and all their body. Examine their skin for injuries, abrasions, blemishes, and rashes. Make sure after bath their body is thoroughly dry before they get dressed.

Nail Care and Maintenance

Nail Care and Maintenance by Ivrydbook

Fingernails can be a weapon and a breeding ground for germs and bacteria that can be easily be transferred to the mouth, nose, and eyes. Nail hygiene keeps your kid from ingesting germs while eating, helps get rid of possible painful ingrown nails dirt, prevents unnecessary skin injuries and scratches. In addition, a weekly clipping or clipping when needed is harmless to the well-being of your kids. Finally, invest in a good nail brush to help your kids scrub the dirt out from under their nails to keep them safe.

Cover your mouth while Sneezing or Coughing

Kids may have a solid immune system compared to adults, but a little push in the right direction will go a long way to secure them. First, kids should be taught to cover their mouths while coughing or sneezing to avoid the spread of germs to others. The proper way to do this is to use a handkerchief or tissue to cover their nose and mouth instead of their hands to prevent contamination and spread. In addition, they can use their elbow to cover their nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing. When they use their hands to cover their nose and mouth during a cough or sneeze, encourage them to wash their hands immediately with soap and water as soon as possible. These precautions will help prevent the transfer of these pathogens to others.

Environmental Hygiene

Envrionmental Hygiene by Ivrydbook

Hygiene practiced at home gradually becomes a part of your kid’s basic etiquette. The best place to build your kid’s immunity is from home. Inculcate a habit of cleanliness in your child, teach them to clean up after them, if they spill something, show them how to clean it, after eating their meal show them how to pick up their dishes, put them in the sink and wash their hands. Teach them to wear clean clothes and underpants daily to maintain overall body and genital hygiene.

Hair Hygiene

Haircare and hygiene by Ivrydbook

Good hair care can prevent lice, scalp infection, and dandruff. Although your kids can get lice from their playmates or other kids in the vicinity. There are easy steps to help take good care of your kid’s hair, like giving them a hair wash at least twice a week to get rid of dirt and grease. Assist them in applying shampoo and rinse with water. Brush their hair once a day to prevent breakage, brittle hair, and knots. If they have long hair, keep it tied up to avoid picking up dirt. Teach them not to share their comb, hats, caps, and pillows with other kids for better hygiene. And if they have lice, treat it immediately to avoid spread and stop it from becoming severe.

Genital Care

Genital Care by Ivrydbook

Wash your kids underarm. Teach them to wear roll-on id they are tweens or teens. It is a rite of passage. Sweat can be good and bad at the same time. Good when it opens up your spores and bad when it becomes body odor which can start at ages 9 – 10 years old. If your kids are at school and engage in sports, give them wipes for their underarm during sports practice and after sports practice before changing their clothes. Every child is different. Some kids may sweet heavily, and others may not. If they are tweens or teens, choose an antiperspirant to add scent while helping minimize sweating and protect them.
